Penney Reef
36″x36″
Oil on canvas
This painting was commissioned by the Penney family and was a really fun project. I wanted to capture a stylized pose of the sea turtle while showing the depth and detail of the Caribbean reef. Prints are available!
Progress pic.
Progress pic of the seagrass flats painting I am currently working. Doing research for this one really gets me thinking of all the macro life that is dependent on this ecosystem. Seagrass is a crucial ecosystem to our oceans as they provide food and shelter for larval crustaceans, juvenile fishes, and sea turtles.

Mimic octopus added to Buddha’s Reef
Oh yeah! The first of many Indo-Pacific reef creatures to be added. I can’t begin to tell you how exciting it was to paint this fella. Interesting creature, the mimic octopus. It has learned to mimic other reef creatures to evade predation including lionfish, sea serpents, and flounder.
